A damning report by the Auditor General has unveiled a scandal of monumental proportions involving Makueni MP Susan Kiamba and Constituency Chairman Daniel Kavoi who are accused of gross mismanagement and misappropriation of Ksh 74,774,780 in Constituency Development Fund (CDF) allocations.

The auditor’s report dated June 30, 2023 paints a troubling picture of financial misconduct within the constituency.

It reveals that Chairman Daniel Kavoi expended KSh 3,485,988 on committee expenses, with KSh 1,808,000 of this amount lacking proper payment vouchers.

The glaring absence of these crucial documents raises serious questions about the legitimacy of the expenditure.

In a particularly alarming revelation, the report notes that MP Susan Kiamba allocated Ksh 11,602,822 for land purchases intended for constituency assets but only Ksh 9,298,641 is documented – with no supporting evidence provided for the discrepancies.

The report also exposes a massive shortfall in the documentation for bursaries disbursed by Kiamba.

A staggering Ksh 56,865,454 was purportedly allocated to secondary, tertiary and special schools across the constituency but the absence of documentation from the recipient institutions casts doubt on the validity of these disbursements and their intended beneficiaries.

The Auditor General also questions the unexplained variances in the Ksh 74,774,780 spent by Kiamba through Kavoi, indicating a lack of clarity and justification for these expenditures.

The report goes on to call into question the financial stewardship and accountability of both the MP and the Chairman which underscores the need for a thorough investigation.
